Jazz Tumbao Host Allan Johnston explores the reaches of Afro-Caribbean Jazz from its roots in New York City, Cuba and Puerto Rico to the rest of the world.

Bassist and composer Allan Johnston has played with some of Canada’s finest Jazz and Latin ensembles, including Zapato Negro, Grupo Jazz Tumbao, JUNO nominee Rumba Calzada, Orquesta Goma Dura,Orquesta La Clave and many others. He’s also been privileged to play behind some of the giants of Latin Music, including NY Salsa legend and Fania All-Star Larry Harlow, Grammy winner Lalo Rodriguez, Johnny Rivera, and Cuban piano wizard Ernán Lopez-Nussa.
