About the Host: My name is Gavin Walker and I’ve been involved with Jazz music for most of my life. My parents had music around the house ever since I could hear. Classical, Jazz, Opera and when I first heard Jazz I realized it was to be my life. I studied piano first then clarinet and got my first saxophone when I was 12 and played my first pro gig when I was 13. I’ve been a musician all of my life and still play the alto saxophone, clarinet and flute. I have studied Jazz from a musical and historical point of view and I’m the music’s biggest fan. I have a huge collection of records, tapes and CDs and although playing music gives me the greatest satisfaction, listening and sharing the great sounds of Jazz with others comes a very close second. That, I know, will explain why I’m involved with Just Jazz on the Media On Tap Radio Network.

About the Show: Late Night With Gavin” will present all forms of Jazz from the 20′s 30′s 40′s but with an emphasis on Modern Jazz. You’ll always know who is playing in the groups and who wrote the selections and with my long experience in the music as a listener and performer I have first hand knowledge and knew as friends and associates many of the great movers and shakers in this important music. I’ll tell you some of the stories of famous recording sessions and try to give you the historical perspective on many of the great dates that became milestones in Jazz. Some of the stories will be poignant, some will be funny but I guarantee that all will enhance your listening pleasure and hopefully give you some depth in understanding and feeling the pulse of this great music. I’m here at the service of this music called Jazz and I can assure you that the sounds will be the real thing.
